About

Take Highway 103 to Exit 11. Take Highway 324 south to Lunenburg and then turn left onto Highway 332 towards Riverport and Rose Bay. Property is located next to Rose Bay General Store and Café with sign posted. The sleepy village of Rose Bay is a relaxing 12 minute drive from Lunenburg on the winding coastal road, which travels southwest to "The Crossroads" where the road to Riverport meets the road to Kingsburg. Rose Bay is sheltered where it rests. It was settled by Germans in the second half of the 18th century, mostly by farmers who adapted their lives to living from the sea and created small subsistent farms where crops were planted and livestock were grazed. This heritage home was built in the middle of Queen Victoria's reign and looks out, as it has for over 150 years, across a small estuary flowing to Sand Dollar Beach. The beach is little more than a five minute walk, and the house is adjacent the Rose Bay General Store and Café. This house has a classic central hall plan with a small parlor and back bedroom to the right of the front hall, and family living-room and dining to the left. Leaving the dining area at the rear, there is a powder room to the right before entering the kitchen "L". The kitchen is flanked by two outside decks, and the yard is an ample size for gardening. The second floor has three additional bedrooms and a large family bath. The upper central hall houses a large storage closet to the rear and a Scottish dormer at the front. The interior is freshly painted and has recently been refitted with new flooring. This modestly priced home affords a lifestyle by the sea in a charming period property. The convenience and security of living at the village's heart within a beautiful natural setting is the sweetest kind of compromise. The house would adapt well for a full time residence or as a seasonal retreat. It would accommodate a large family and could also entertain any number of commercial enterprises including an artist in residence with gallery, or a seaside guesthouse. For the mature buyer who has always dreamed of living by the sea within a welcoming community, this could be the one. (id:27476)
